Dr. Wilson’s poster was one of eight chosen for the Student Success Summit’s poster presentation session. The following is an abstract from the study:
Eastern Kentucky University’s (EKU) College of Education has had the highest fall-to-fall retention rate of new, first-time freshmen at Eastern Kentucky University for the past five years. A three-part student success system was developed to best serve new, first-time freshmen in the College of Education. The three parts of the system are freshmen cohorts, peer-to-peer mentoring and the Education Living Learning Community. A survey was launched in Spring 2014 and Spring 2015 to the College of Education new, first-time freshmen who began their first semester at EKU in Fall 2013 and Fall 2014. The goal of the survey was to assess if the three-part student success system impacted the students’ overall GPA and decision to enroll for the following Fall semester. The survey also captured feedback from the students on what they liked and disliked about the peer mentoring, freshmen cohorts and the Education Living Learning Community.
