Fall Workshop Series at EKU for Small Businesses

Fall Workshop Series at EKU for Small Businesses

It takes more than hustle to run a successful business, it takes knowledge of key tools in the entrepreneur’s tool box. The Small Business Development Center at Eastern Kentucky University will be hosting a free fall workshop series focusing some of those tools including, Search Engine Optimization, CPA and legal advising, Excel training, successful pitching, time management skills and professional social media tools. Six workshops on various business topics will be offered at various time throughout the month of August and into the first week of September (see series flyer on right).

Jason Rainey, director of the SBDC at EKU, said the Kentucky Small Business Development Center offers services to help start and grow small business with hopes of creating jobs and ultimately enriching the economies within their service region. He said workshops like these offer training and access to tools and advice that could be out of reach for smaller business in rural communities, like those in Kentucky.

“In an effort to drive more entrepreneurial activity in Richmond area, it made perfect sense to partner with Director Mindy Goble and the Richmond City Chamber of Commerce,” said Rainey.

Rainey said outreach was a primary objective of the EKU SBDC and hopes to see more partnerships with local organizations in their service region in the future.

David McFaddin, executive director of Engagement and Regional Stewardship at EKU expressed the importance of supporting local, small businesses.

“As Past President for the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, I understand the great impact small businesses can have on our employment and economic vitality in a community and region. These workshops offered by the EKU Small Business Development Center are invaluable resources for local business owners and entrepreneurs,” said McFaddin.

The workshops are offered free of charge and seating may be limited. Those interested can register at http://goo.gl/s60Eqy. For more information please visit ksbdc.org.
