Dr. Ryan Wilson has been named Director of Regional Programming at Eastern Kentucky University. Most recently, he served EKU’s College of Education (COE) as the Program Director of Student Success. In this position Dr. Wilson led COE’s undergraduate advising, retention, recruitment and marketing efforts. Under his leadership the COE freshmen fall-to-fall retention rate increased 5.2% in two years.
He completed a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at EKU in 2013. Dr. Wilson’s dissertation, “The Effect of a Student Support Services Program on Academic Success at an Appalachian Comprehensive University,” examined the effect of the NOVA program, a Student Support Services program at Eastern Kentucky University, on academic success for first-generation and low-income college students. He also earned a master’s degree in sports administration and a bachelor’s degree in public relations from EKU.
In his new position, Dr. Wilson will serve as the Richmond campus liaison for the regional campuses and collaborate with academic and student success departments to manage and coordinate all educational programming for the regional campuses. He will also work to develop and implement student success and retention programs for regional campus students.
Dr. Wilson is a native of Manchester, Ky. He currently resides in Richmond, Ky. His wife, Stephanie, is an EKU graduate and art teacher at George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester, Ky. Dr. Wilson and Stephanie are the parents of one child, two-year-old Scarlett.
